Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21)

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a museum of genocide during the Khmer Rouge rule from 1975 to 1979. It was the high school before becoming a concentration camp of Khmer Rouge. In 1975 the school was converted into a prison called the Security Prison S21. During 4 years of rule under Khmer Rouge, this place imprisoned about 17,000 people (other sources show that the figure was 20,000), almost prisoners is the members or previous Khmer Rouge soldier convicted traitor. The school has been transformed by adding electric fencing, reinforcing the jail, interrogation rooms and torture chambers.
