Along with being one of the Vietnam popular beach destinations, Vung Tau is of interest for religious groups, with the predominance of Buddhism. Many buddhist pagodas, temples and statues were built in the city, including Niet Ban Tinh Xa (Nirvana Pagoda) which is considered as a significant pilgrims around the country. Located on the side of Small Mountain, about 3km from the town, is probably the most beautiful pagoda in Vung Tau for its traditional architecture and the modern combine harmoniously, with a side facing the ocean, the 12-meter Nirvana Buddha statue put on the 2.5 m high altar, and a 21 meter-in-height flag tower standing in front of the temple.
The center of the pagoda looks like a garden consisting of a big gate guarded by two gods, Ong Thien (God of Goodness) and Ong Ac (God of Evil). Otherwise, there is a giant bronze bell Dai Hong Chung 3.5 m in height and 3.5 tons in weight hung inside. Viewing Vung Tau from the roof of the pagoda, tourists will admire the blue vast ocean, white sand and many boats appeared on the horizon.
