It is regarded as the biggest and most famous square in the city. Dalian People's Square, also known as Stalin Square, is a more dynamic place with a charming music fountain in the south than Zhongshan Square. Opposite the beautiful fountain are the city-level administrative buildings including the public security bureau, municipal court and procurator's office.
Located in the middle of Xigang District, the Dalian People’s Square occupies an area of 120,000 square meters. In the center part is four lawns which reach to 4 hectares. The most inspiring sight of the Square is the musical fountain which displays the usual Chinese "Dancing Water". Along with this, the daily national flag hoisting ceremony and the groups of pigeons on the ground are allure for tourists coming here.
Another interesting thing, the colonial-era buildings of Dalian People's Square was the background of scenes from the movie, The Last Emperor.
