Whale Temple has always been a lure for tourists all around with its mysterious history. Built from the late 19th century, also known as Ong Nam Hai Temple, it faced many times of renovation for its current appearance. It boasts ancient architecture and simple exterior features. Inside are three altars of elaborately carved the four holy beasts included the Vietnamese dragon (Long), the Qilin (Lân), the Turtle (Quy) and the Phoenix (Phụng).
There displays the whale skeletons picked up by fishmen at different times. Like other whale temples in Ca Mau, Phu Quoc, Vung Tau Whale Temple is dedicated to the whale, where fishermen pray for their safety before their fishing trip or their vacation. Annually, fishermen often have the festival from August 16th to 18th in lunar calendar, with the solemn rituals and jolly games.
