Upon reaching the top of the Hill, tourists could visit the Dragon King Temple, built under the sovereign of Ming Dynasty. In 1860, this Temple was once used as a military headquarters for French troops. Standing behind the Temple is the lighthouse of Yantai and don’t skip the 1930s- built Japanese Consulate, boasting a ‘torture inquisition room’. With a grand collection of structures, stunning vista and feeling of relaxation, Yantai Hill Park has been heavily visited by both domestic and international tourists. New highlights of the Park are Beacon Tower, Stone Ship and Dragon King Temple.
Beacon Tower is an old lookout beacon located on the peak of Yantai Hill. Constructed during the Ming Dynasty, the Beacon Tower is used to warn fishing fleets of approaching pirates during this period. From the beacon, tourists could have the panoramic of tranquil nature and bustling downtown.
Nestled at the north slope of Yantai Hill is Stone Ship. It is noted for its shape – looking like a shoaled boat.
Dragon King Temple
Locals would say that Dragon King Temple is one of the most sacred places in Chefoo, where they come to pray in the hope of having lucky, happy and prosperous life.
