Pickup from Laem Chabang port and heading to Bangkok to visit the peaceful countryside. Thonburi, which was a capital city of Thailand before Bangkok, still retains its traditional way of life. People live along the canal, use long-tail boats for transportation, and most houses grow organic vegetables and herbs for home cooking. Houses are surrounded by gardens, plantations, and ponds with fish.
Arrive at the village and get off from the car, then follow our tour guide walking through the local village to a lovely house. Sit and relax for a few minutes before jumping into a traditional long-tail boat and riding along the small canals, passing wooden houses. Some people sell their products on paddle boats.
The boat will take you to visit one of the famous temples, Wat Paknam. Wat Paknam is known for its charity work and a nationwide project to promote the five Buddhist precepts in Thai society. The temple is popular among mae chi (nuns). One of its mae chi, Mae Chi Chandra, went on to establish another temple that later became widely known: Wat Phra Dhammakaya. Wat Paknam has an international presence and a long history of engagement with Buddhists from other countries. In 2012, Somdet Chuang completed the construction of a large stupa at the temple, named Maharatchamongkhon, featuring interior Buddhist artwork. In 2021, a large bronze Buddha image was completed and placed in front of the stupa. The stupa and statue have made the temple a popular attraction for international tourists.
After that, continue to visit the famous artist village Khlong Bang Luang, where traditional houses have been transformed into an artist camp for beginners. You can enjoy walking along the walkway, observing daily life, and expressing your creativity through a quick DIY souvenir activity.
Walk through the village until Wat Khu Ha Sawan, where your boat driver awaits to return you to the cooking venue. One of the highlights of the day is the cooking class, where you will become a chef and prepare popular Thai dishes such as Pad Thai and Tom Yum Kung. Enjoy your lunch in the middle of a peaceful garden. After lunch, relax for a while, then return to the car.
The guide will then take you to enjoy shopping at one of the most famous shopping malls in Bangkok, Siam Paragon, before returning to Laem Chabang port. Thank you for exploring with Shore Excursions Asia!
