Welcomed by local guide and driver, your Naha Trip begins with visiting a UNESCO World Heritage – the Shurijo – the Castle of the Ryukyu Kingdom which known as the administrative center and residence of the Ryukyu kings for several centuries.
After several historical wars, the Castle is covered by ancient spirits with beautiful reconstructions but still remain the old royal architecture including multiple gates especially the well-known Shureimon Gate.
Continue on to Shikinaen Garden, the second residence of the Ryukyu kings which built to entertain Royal Guests but was loved by many of the powerful territorial lords in pre-modern Japan. Being the combination of a featured Japanese style and a unique architecture and flora from Okinawa, the garden will leave you spellbound with beautiful, relatively simple, wooden palace buildings Okinawa style, red tile roofs, and a spacious Japanese style landscape garden with a central pond.
The trip would not be complete without a visit to Kokusai-dori which known as the International Street of Japan, stretched for roughly two kilometers through downtown Naha. Thanks to be lined by a series of restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels, souvenir shops, boutiques and department stores, this is the most suitable place to go shopping by venturing into the colorful Heiwadori, Mutsumidori and Ichiba Hondori arcades, which is the best to visit at night when this street is lighted up and becomes a colorful picture with live Okinawa music is played at several restaurants. In the early afternoon, return to port and prepare for your next shore excursions in Asia.
